It all started with the story of a lost book. There was once a boy who had lent his favorite book to a friend. His friend had never given back the book, and the boy was so attached to it that this felt like a betrayal. I was six years old when I wrote the story and, unfortunately, have no record of it. I don't know how the story ended, but it is thanks to it that I now know how it all began: a lost book, a lost story.

They say that writers always write the same story over and over again. Perhaps mine is about searching and finding: one's own past; one's own future; one person or thing that will reveal something unexpected about ourselves and the world.

And so I set myself to find.
